Tips for Great Garlic and Onion Free Homemade Dinners
If you are new to navigating your allium allergy, be prepared to spend much more time inside the grocery store. What use to take us 10 minutes for a quick grocery run is now at least 30 minutes. It does get better, but at first it’s daunting. Turning over every bottle and all packaging to look at the ingredients is time consuming. At first you think just looking for the words garlic and onions does the trick… but nope! You also have to be mindful of ambiguous words like “natural flavoring,” “spice blend,” or any kind of vegetable or meat broths. Even spices like chili powder you can’t buy. You need to look into making your own spice blends which has been fun! We do a blend of paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, pepper and cumin! Same goes with any sort of BBQ rubs or Italian blends.
