Nomadé Austin
We were treated like royalty - seriously, the table next to us kept looking over :). We made brunch reservations in advance. Then two days before our reservation, I got a call from a lovely lady named Fawn. She left me a message and gave me her personal cell phone number! When I returned her call, she explained that she and the Chef wanted to ensure I could have savory options as well as the obliviously safe options like waffles and an acai bowl. Long story short, Chef Jay prepared me special chorizo the night before so I could try their amazing chorizo brunch tacos!! I haven’t been able to eat any form of chorizo in years!
I will never know how Chef Jay made allium free chorizo tacos… but he did. Fawn and Chef Jay checked in on us regularly and made the experience exceptional! Not to mention, sitting in their fully weatherized patio, made us feel like we were in another country. This is our new spot, for sure.

Lutie's
Locally sourced with a seasonal menu, Lutie’s is one of the most accommodating place in Austin! They read the notes section on OpenTable, and the server will always talk to the Chef about modifying the menu before we even arrive. I always have my special menu waiting for me before we order our amazing cocktails! Not to mention the ambiance is serene. This makes for a lovely date night, and a slam dunk to impress any friends or family!

ATX Cocina
Traditional Mexican food with an elevated twist you have to taste to believe! ATX Cocina is a 100% gluten free restaurant (but you’d never know!), and the waitstaff and chef are extremely accommodating to an allium allergy. They are always willing to make fresh guacamole (which is surpassingly rare at Mexican restaurants), amongst other things… including but not limited to the most amazing carne asada, freshly seasoned with your classic salt and pepper! This lively, upbeat environment makes you feel you can go out with friends again, and not worry about your annoying allium allergy!

Ember Kitchen
Super friendly staff. Even the chef came out himself to talk about what he could make completely allium free, and asked if he should clean the grill for cross contamination, which I said “yes, please.” They had so many options! Then another table accidentally got my allium free dish. They caught it straight away and felt so terrible that they comp’d my entire meal!

DeSano Pizza
Pizzaaaa! This has been the best find! I have been missing the ability to order pizza, and little did I know that the best pizza in Austin naturally makes their pizza sauce with no garlic or onion seasoning! They don’t add their garlic flavoring until the end, so they simply didn’t do their last step and voila(!) I can order pizza like a normal person!
I have only tried their cheese pizza thus far, but I will be asking what sort of meat and/or veggies they can add next time! THIS. IS. HUGE.
Recommended Cocktail: Red Wine or Light Beer… nothing goes better with pizza :)

Aba Austin
Another amazing restaurant who reads the allergy notes on OpenTable before I arrive! Aba is a Mediterranean restaurant with a California influence. The menu features Chef CJ Jacobson’s modern approach to Mediterranean cooking. Do not leave without trying the WHIPPED FETA!

Plank Seafood Provisions (The Domain)
Oysters, oysters, oysters! I’ll be honest, what they can make allium free is pretty limited, but those few items are delightful! And the most amazing part of the experience is the manager has come out with our food each time to ensure us that all gloves were changed. I’m still in denial that my allergy is that bad, but I am blown away constantly by the extra care and attention!

L'Oca d'Oro
Italian! If you’ve been dealing with an allium allergy, then you’ve experienced how impossible it is to find an Italian restaurant that can make you anything besides plain pasta with a butter sauce. But look no further! L'Oca d'Oro is a super fresh, farm to table restaurant with handmade pasta! I was blown away by my options. The Chef came over to ask about my meal and if I had any notes… nope! No notes. It was all perfect.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema
Go to the movies - there’s no excuse! The Alamo Drafthouse is our favorite cinema… easily… and yes, allium friendly options are limited, BUT there’s always their amazing butter popcorn AND they make a great pizza with no marinara sauce (using olive oil instead). They then can add fresh avocado and jalapeños (remember to always be wary of anything pickled), and pending on which cinema you go to, maybe a few more bits. Every time we’ve been there a manager has come over to ask how severe my allergy, asking specifically if they need to change their gloves. Super cool.
Pro Tip: Get there early so you can explain your allergy to your server without disturbing the cinema experience for others!
Recommended Cocktail: Skinny Margarita (the Mueller location as the best one)

Yamas Austin
Amazing, new(ish) Greek Restaurant! When we told the waiter about my allium allergy, he sent over the manager who pulled up a chair besides me, and went over the menu item by item explaining the modifications they would do to each dish which they could adapt to be allium free! Surprisingly there were loads of options! On top of that, there’s a very lively, family vibe which makes you feel like you’re physically in Greece! Only caution is they don’t naturally think of the cross contamination in the deep fryer, so be sure to bring that up if you’re allergy is affected by that level of sensitivity.
